Syriac player Roony Bardghji scores in first match for FC Barcelona

BARCELONA, Spain — It seems FC Barcelona’s decision to sign-on Syriac player Roony Bardghji was neither mistaken nor random. In his debut for the renowned Catalonian club, Bardghji scored a goal against Vissel Kobe in the second half of the game, shortly after replacing Lamine Yamal at the start of the half. The friendly match ended with a 1-3 win for the Catalans.

During the match, Bardghji took three shots on goal, one of which resulted in a goal after a quick pass from teammate Robert Lewandowski. He also created a scoring opportunity and completed two successful dribbles.

Him playing fulfilled the club’s promise to give Bardghji a chance during the pre-season to prove himself to the coaching staff. Bardghji signed a contract with the Spanish club that runs until June 2029. The 19-year-old is considered one of the most promising young talents in European football. FC Barcelona previously stated that Bardghji possesses great skill and passion for the sport, making him a strong candidate to become a rising star.

Bardghji was born in Kuwait on November 15, 2005. His father also has Armenian roots. In 2012, the family moved to the town of Kallinge in Sweden, where he began playing football at the age of six. In 2020, he moved from Swedish club Malmö FF to Denmark’s FC Copenhagen, where he participated in UEFA Champions League matches in 2022.

FC Copenhagen received transfer money worth 2 million euros from FC Barcelona for the Syriac talent.
