People’s Protection Units of North and East Syria arrest two suspected Islamic State terrorists in Al-Hol
HASAKAH, North and East Syria — Despite intensified efforts to relocate families of ISIS militants from the sprawling Al-Hol camp in Syria’s Hasakah province — either to other parts of Syria or to Iraq in coordination with Iraqi authorities — security and military forces continue to conduct frequent raids inside the camp. These operations often lead to the capture of ISIS members or sleeper cells.
On 11 August 2025, the People’s Protection Units (Yekîneyên Parastina Gel, YPG), a part of the Syrian Democratic Forces’ (SDF) Military Operations Units (TOL), announced that on 9 August, it carried out a security operation in the town of Al-Hol.
The town of Al-Hol is also the site of the largest camp for women and children affiliated with the Islamic State.

The raid targeted an Islamic State (ISIS) cell involved in managing and transferring the group’s financial and logistical resources.
The cell included Saad Mukhlef al-Hissi, known as Abu Saif, and Mohammed Shaker Mukhlef.
The YPG statement stressed that the operation was part of the SDF’s ongoing campaign to track down ISIS members, disrupt their networks, and safeguard the region’s security and stability against terrorist threats.
