Syriac Military Council hosts German news crew in Assyrian Khabur River Valley

KHABUR RIVER VALLEY, Beth Nahrin — The Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulhoyo Suryoyo, MFS) on 16 August hosted a German news crew for a field visit to the Syriac-Assyrian Khabur River Valley. The visit included a tour of MFS positions in the Khabur basin, in addition to covering the celebrations of the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary held at Tel Wardiyat Monastery.

The MFS Media Center accompanied the crew throughout the visit, providing information about its mission, field activities, and responsibility in protecting the Khabur River Valley and ensuring the safety of its inhabitants. The German crew was able to witness the reality of coexistence in the Valley and the perseverance of Christians in Syria to remain in their homeland, despite the many difficult challenges.

The German journalists interviewed Abgar Nuhomo, member of the General Command of the Syriac Military Council, who spoke about the MFS’ role in defending the homeland, safeguarding the presence of Syriac-Assyrian community, and contributing to stability while promoting coexistence among all components.

This visit comes within the framework of European media’s growing interest in highlighting the situation in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria, as well as the vital role played by local communities in preserving their existence and maintaining the region’s religious and cultural diversity.
