Two Assyrians shot in Sydney gangland attack, 39-year-old father of two killed

SYDNEY — Assyrian Maradona Yalda (31), a close associate of a known former Comanchero Motorcycle Club gang member Andre Kallista and known for links to Assyrian street gang DLASTHR (The Last Hour), was shot in public outside a Sydney pub at 6:40 PM on Sunday, 17 August. Gilbert Admon Shino (39) — father of two and reportedly without any real criminal connections — who was with Maradona Yalda was shot dead.

Yalda was taken to hospital with multiple gunshot injuries to his legs, neck, and chest. His condition is reported as stable.

Sydney police believe the attack was targeted based on Yalda’s background with possible links to organized crime. Police have located a burnt-out car on Monday evening in the Sydney suburb of Rydalmere believed to be linked to the attack.

According to Australia’s The Daily Telegraph, the shooting came days after Yalda returned to Australia from abroad to visit his sick grandmother. The Daily Telegraph reported that Yalda had received life threats in the past with a price on his head set by underworld criminals.

Condolences for Gilbert Admon Yalda will be received at St Mary’s Assyrian Church of the East today 19 August.
