Syriac Cultural Association organizes scouting trip combining learning and fun
ZALIN (QAMISHLI), North and East Syria — The Syriac Cultural Association in Syria organized a scouting trip to the Syriac Catholic Monastery of Our Lady in Zalin countryside, on Sunday, August 22. The event brought together children from the Syriac (Chaldean–Assyrian–Aramean) community, under the guidance of experienced scoutmasters from the Syriac Cultural Association’s scout troop.
The trip began in the early evening in an atmosphere full of excitement, songs, and enthusiastic scout chants. Participants engaged in a variety of activities, including learning key scouting skills such as tying the scout neckerchief, as well as taking part in group games and fun competitions.
In a statement, the leader of the Syriac Cultural Association’s scout group, Dani Hanna, told our news desk: “Through these trips, we aim to teach the Jarameez flock—whose members are in the younger age group—various scouting skills, and to foster a spirit of cooperation and belonging among the children.”
The scouting trip concluded with a visit to the Shrine of Our Lady. The children expressed their joy with the combined experience of education and entertainment and hoped for similar trips in the future.
