Midfielder Lucas Sarhaddon Shlimon signs with Assyriska FF
SÖDERTÄLJE, Sweden – Assyriska FF has signed 22-year-old central midfielder Lucas Sarhaddon Shlimon for the Syriac football club playing in Sweden’s third league.
Before signing with Assyriska FF, Shlimon played for Örebro SK in Sweden’s tier 2 football league Superettan, where he gained experience at the second-highest Swedish level.
“I have always known about Assyriska FF’s history and its importance to the people, so I come here with pride and motivation as I want the club to perform as best as possible, and hopefully I can contribute to that success,” Shlimon said about his new club.
Shlimon is regarded a promising young talent in Swedish football. Born in Sweden on 15 February 2003, to parents from Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia) in Iraq, Lucas Shlimon played in his youth for Jönköping’s Södra IF. In the summer of 2020, he transferred to Assyriska IK, also in Jönköping and playing in the third league. In his second season with the club, he played 26 matches and was named Talent of the Year. In January 2022, he transferred to Örebro SK.
The midfielder plays for the Iraq national team with 2 caps to his name.
