SDF Spokesperson Abgar Daoud: Hasakah combing operation mainly targets prison vicinity
HASAKAH, North and East Syria – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Internal Security Forces (ISF) conducted an extensive security sweep in Hasakah city, Gozarto (Jazira) Canton, following confirmed ISIS attacks in the region.
The SDF issued a prior statement announcing the launch of the operation, saying: “In line with our national responsibility to safeguard the security of our people and preserve stability, we — the Syrian Democratic Forces, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria, and the Women’s Protection Units — announce the launch of a large-scale security sweep targeting the hideouts and cells of the ISIS terrorist organization in the city of Al-Hasakah and its surrounding areas.”
In its statement, the SDF explained that “The objectives of this campaign are to pursue the remnants of ISIS and its sleeper and active cells that endanger civilian lives; dismantle logistical support networks; and prevent potential plans by the terrorist organization to attack prisons and detention facilities.”
The SDF highlighted the role of the Military Operations Teams in providing intelligence support, ensuring precise targeting of terrorist cells while protecting civilian lives.
The forces emphasized: “As we reaffirm our determination to uproot ISIS terrorism, we call on our people in the city of Al-Hasakah to fully cooperate with our forces and report any suspicious activity. We emphasize that their safety and security remain our highest priority.”
The SDF said it will release field information and updates progressively in subsequent statements.
SDF Spokesperson Abgar Daoud confirmed that “the operation targets the perimeter of Hasakah city’s prison, where ISIS operatives are concentrated. Their cells are clustered nearby in an attempt to free prisoners and spread chaos.”
The campaign follows last week’s attempted riot and escape near Al-Kallasa prison, as well as the recent dismantling of a dangerous ISIS cell by the Deir ez-Zor Military Council’s commando forces on Friday night (August 29, 2025), during which weapons and ammunition were seized in the town of al-Dhiban, eastern Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor) countryside.
