SYRIA: Clashes between Syrian regime forces and Turkish-backed opposition factions near Saraqib

IDLIB, Syria – Syrian regime forces and opposition groups exchange artillery fire in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The Syria Arab Army (SAA) fired heavy artillery at the village of Afes, in the Saraqib countryside, and near Jabal al-Zawiya in southern Idlib governorate.

In response to the regime shelling, Turkish-backed opposition groups target regime positions in Al-Fatira near Jabal al-Zawiya, killing two soldiers.

Opposition groups also indiscriminately shelled the city of Saraqib.

Despite the sporadic artillery exchanges and small arms fire, a cautious calm remains throughout the de-escalation zone, as the new ceasefire enters its 26th consecutive day with air strikes remaining completely suspended during this period.
