Washington announces $ 4 million for Sinjar reconstruction

ANKAWA ܥܲܢܟܵܒ̣ܵܐ, Iraq – The U.S. Consulate General in Erbil, Iraq announced the allocation of more than $ 4 million for infrastructure projects in Sinjar district to improve conditions for the return of displaced people.

In a statement on Thursday, the Consulate said that, “The U.S. Consul Steven Fagin held a TV meeting yesterday with the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Yazidi activist Nadia Murad to discuss the general situation of Sinjar district in northern Iraq and focus on the issue of Sinjar citizens to return to their villages.”

The Consulate indicated that the United States is now implementing more than four projects costing more than $ 2 million in Sinjar to support the Murad Initiative, noting that Washington continues to work with the Iraqi Federal Government and Kurdish Regional Government to improve Security conditions in Sinjar to facilitate the return of the city’s displaced people.
