Iraq: Number of Corona infection cases rises in Erbil and Ankawa
ANKAWA, ERBIL, Kurdish Region in Iraq – The Ministry of Health of the Kurdish Region in Iraq announced on Wednesday that nine new COVID-19 cases were recorded and on Thursday 12 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Erbil city. The Health Ministry in the Kurdish Region in Iraq said in its statement that six of the cases were in the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian town of Ankawa, a suburb of Erbil. Six others were from Kolani, Kamran, Berzin and Benslawa.
On Wednesday the central Iraqi Ministry of Health and Environment recorded 287 new infection cases in Iraq, prompting the churches of Ankawa, Erbil and Nohadra (Duhok) to close their doors.
Ankawa Today reported today two new cases in Erbil of two persons aged 58 and one 35. One is an Ankawa resident and the other is from Anbar City. Both of whom returned recently from Baghdad.
