Turkish-backed factions open fire on Manbij Military Council positions in North and East Syria
MABBUG (MANBIJ), Syria – The Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) targeted the forces of Manbij Military Council (MMC), a member of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), with heavy weapons near the village of Tokhar, northeast of Mabbug (Manbij).
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) stated that the SNA used heavy weapons to bomb several MMC positions in and around Tokhar.
The forces of the MMC responded to the attack with counterbattery fire.
No information about casualty numbers was available.
On Wednesday, the spokesperson for the MMC, Shervan Darwish, survived an assassination attempt. An explosive device was detonated near his vehicle as he travelled through the city. This is not the first time Darwish has been targeted.

Last year, Darwish was shot by gunmen who were later arrested. An investigation by the MMC indicated that the would-be assassins were affiliated with one of the many Turkish-backed groups perpetually threatening to invade the region.
Earlier this month, the SOHR stated that intermittent confrontations with light and medium weapons had erupted between the Turkish-backed factions and MMC near the villages of Al-Yashli and Umm Adasa, northwest of Mabbug.
