North and East Syria Internal Security Forces member dies during fight between civilians over humanitarian aid in Tal Tamr countryside

TAL TAMR, Syria – A member of the Internal Security Forces (ISF) has lost his life after being shot in the village of Tal Faida outside the Khabur Valley town Tel Tamr.

The shooting occurred after a dispute between citizens over the distribution of humanitarian aid escalated into an armed fight.

Our informed sources in the village of Tal Faida reported that clashes took place between citizens from surrounding villages queuing to obtain humanitarian aid. A dispute erupted between them and turned into an armed fight that required the intervention of the Internal Security Forces.

The sources stated that Kalashnikov and hunting rifles were used during the fight. An ISF member was hit by a stray bullet and was immediately transferred to Zalin (Qamishli) Hospital where he died.

Three other people were wounded, including two women. Those who instigated and took part in the fight have been arrested and are awaiting sentencing by the judiciary.
