SYRIA: Syriac Women’s Union holds third conference in Zalin
ZALIN, Syria — The Syriac Women’s Union (SWU) in Syria held its third conference in the Zana Hall in Zalin (Qamishli) on Friday, during which Siham Quryo was re-elected head of the Union.
The conference also announced several decisions and the future program of the Union.
The Union pledged to advance the participation of Syriac women in the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria, strengthen relations between the SWU other women’s and community organizations and the female co-chairs in the DAA.
The implementation of training camps for women has also been approved, with the aim of proving free educational opportunities and the possibility of studying women’s issues.
The SWU also discussed ways in which they can further support the Bethnahrain Women’s Protection Forces (HSNB).
The SWU also announced the creation of a newspaper, The Voice of Syriac Women, that will cover issues affecting Syriac women and will publish pieces written by Syriac women.
