Syriac Union Party (SUP) statement on 1st anniversary of Turkish invasion of North and East Syria

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — On the occasion of the first anniversary of the Turkish-led invasion of Rish Ayno (Ras al-Ayn) and Tel Abyad in North and East Syria, the Syriac Union Party (SUP) issued the following statement:

On this day last year, the Turkish aggression against the cities of Rish Ayno and Tel Abyad began a barbaric attack with the help of mercenary factions, causing major crimes against civilians and their displacement from their land.

In this regard, we salute the heroic resistance of the Syriac Democratic Forces in defending Rish Ayno and Tel Abyad and bend over before the souls of the martyrs who were martyred in this resistance.

With the continuation of this occupation and the crimes committed, coupled with the demographic changes in the region by Turkey, we call on the international community and international actors to intervene and end the occupation and violations that have taken place, to ensure the return of all displaced persons to their homes, and to seek to support efforts for a political solution in Syria and to establish security and stability for all Syrians.
