Syriac Military Council condemns Vienna terrorist attack, expresses solidarity with Austrian people

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA / VIENNA – The General Command of the Syriac Military Council (MFS) expressed its full solidarity with the Austrian people and strongly condemned the armed terrorist attack by Islamist militants in the center of the Austrian capital Vienna on Monday. The terrorist attack left four people killed and twenty-two wounded, some of them in critical condition.

The General Command of the Syriac Military Council said that ISIS terrorist cells continue to threaten the European continent and the world at large. It stressed the need to continue international efforts aimed at combating the extremist ideology of ISIS. which claimed responsibility for the attack. Austria is a supporting partner of the U.S. led International Coalition against ISIS, i.e. the Combined Joint Task Force composed of military forces and personnel from over 30 countries.

The Syriac Military Council sent messages of solidarity with the French people and the Greek Orthodox Church in France after the recent terrorist attacks in the country. MFS called for vigilance and warned of more of these barbaric terrorist attacks in Europe. France is a full partner in the International Coalition against ISIS.
