IRAQ: President of the Supreme Judicial Council meets families of martyrs of Dhi Qar protests
BAGHDAD — Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq President Faiq Zidan met with representatives of the families of martyrs of demonstrations in Dhi Qar province of Iraq, according to a statement issued by the Council’s media office on Sunday.
The families of the victims of Dhi Qar demonstrators came to the Supreme Judicial Council on Sunday to follow up on judicial proceedings against the killers of their children.
Zidan discussed with them the judicial procedures in holding the killers of demonstrators accountable and legal procedures to preserve the rights of their families. The head public prosecutor and the head of the judicial supervision body also attended the meeting.
Last week, a number of anti-government protestors were killed and wounded by followers of Iraqi cleric Muqtada al-Sadr in the southern city of Nasiriya.
