IRAQ: Kurdistan Regional Government issues six postage stamps commemorating visit of Pope Francis

ERBIL, Iraq — According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Kurdistan Regional Government, it has issued six stamps to commemorate the historic visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to the region.

On Sunday morning, Pope Francis arrived in Kurdistan, amid an official and popular reception at Erbil International Airport.

President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, along with their deputies, a number of ministers, officials, and the Governor of Erbil were present at the airport to receive the Pope.

The reception was attended by Christian, Muslim, and clerics from other faiths, as well as representatives of the Jewish and Zoroastrian religions, various national components, and civil society in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
