Education Authority of North and East Syria preparing for maintenance and restoration of schools in Tayy neighborhood of Zalin
ZALIN, Syria — After taking full control of the Tayy neighborhood of Zalin (Qamishli) from the Syrian regime-aligned National Defense Forces (NDF) at the end of April following days of clashes, the Internal Security Forces (ISF) of North and East Syria have completed their safety and security sweeps of the neighborhood.
Now, the Education Authority in Gozarto (Jazira) Region is working to rehabilitate the neighborhood’s schools, including the Fadel Abdul Aziz Hassan School which was transformed by the NDF into a military headquarters. Children who lived in proximity to the school-turned-headquarters were forced to travel long distances to go to school.
Rohat Khalil, Co-Chair of Education Authority of Gozarto Region, explained that after the Tayy neighborhood became an administrative district under the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA), the Education Authority visited and inspected the neighborhood’s schools in preparation for the start of maintenance and restoration projects.
Khalil pointed out that the maintenance and repair committees of the Authority will continue their inspection tours in the Tayy neighborhood until they make sure that the schools are ready to effectively teach students.
There are three schools in the Tayy neighborhood, two for basic education and a girls’ secondary school.
