High-ranking U.S. military delegation visits Raqqa in North and East Syria
RAQQA, Syria — A delegation from the U.S.-led International Coalition visited Raqqa for the first time since it pulled out of the area two years ago.
According to sources, the visit of the joint delegation of the Coalition and the U.S. Army was conducted to show renewed support for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The visit reportedly lasted for two days in the city of Raqqa, where the two sides discussed military issues related to supporting stability and security along the Euphrates River.
The U.S. and other Coalition forces maintain a force several thousand strong across North and East of Syria to assist the SDF fight the Islamic State (ISIS) and stabilize liberated areas.
