Germany sentences ISIS-affiliated woman who returned from Syria to three years and four months in prison
BERLIN — A German court sentenced a woman convicted of fighting with the Islamic State (ISIS) to three years and four months in prison.
The 31-year-old woman had traveled with her daughter from Berlin to Syria and joined ISIS in 2014.
The woman was accused of several charges, the most important of which are belonging to a foreign terrorist organization, detaining a minor, violating the duty of care and education, violating the Military Weapons Control Law, and fraud.
The German authorities have also demanded that the convicted woman pay financial compensation for the aid she was receiving from Germany during her stay in Syria.
