Newly-appointed MFS spokesman Matai Hanna comments on Turkish attacks on civilian areas around Ayn Issa and Tel Tamr in North and East Syria

TEL TAMR, Syria — In a statement about the latest military developments in the region, newly appointed spokesperson for the Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulḥoyo Suryoyo, MFS) Matai Hanna said that on Wednesday, the Turkish occupation forces and their Syrian National Army (SNA) proxies escalated their violations along the front lines. They fired artillery and tank shells targeting the Ayn Issa area, specifically the village Al-Safawi, located on the M4 Highway. The attack resulted in the deaths of four civilians — a man and three of his children — and the injury of two other members of the family — a woman and a one-year-old baby.

With regard to the current situation in the countryside of Tel Tamr, Hanna explained that Turkey has targeted residential areas and bombarded them with artillery, such as the villages of Timar (Umm al-Keif), Al-Dardara, Sheikh Ali, and Al-Abush, leading to the injury of a woman and the death of soldiers of the Syrian regime.

Hanna added that the MFS and the Tel Tamr Military Council, according to the legitimate right of defense, responded to the Turkish targeting of defenseless civilians in the Syriac–Assyrian and 0other villages of Tel Tamr, inflicting heavy Turkish human and equipment losses.

The MFS on the front lines showed full and great readiness for any potential targeting of the Turkish enemy and its proxies, said Hanna.

He also stressed that the MFS will continue to carry out its duty of protecting and defending the civilians of the villages of the Khabur River Valley in cooperation with the Tel Tamr Military Council.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria issued statements of condemnation about the blatant Turkish bombing of Ayn Issa and the countryside of Tel Tamr. The international community has, however, remained silent.
