HASAKAH, Syria — As part of its sports activities, the Syriac Progressive Youth Union organized its annual football tournament called the ‘Beth Nahrin Championship’ in which Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) sports clubs competed against one another.
The tournament, which began on Saturday, 9 October, was sponsored by Rafedain General Trading Company.
The Syriac Progressive Youth Club participated in the men and youth categories. Friendly matches were held at the Martyr Zau Seng Stadium in the Naserah neighborhood of Hasakah.
The stadium was built in cooperation with the Free Burma Rangers organization and was named after the martyr Zau Seng who was killed while helping to evacuate civilians from the city of Rish Ayno (Ras al-Ayn) during the October 2019 Turkish invasion.
The Syriac Progressive Youth Union distributes prizes and gifts to the winning teams and clubs in the tournament.
