SYRIA: Dialogue session on the problems facing the Syriac component in Zalin (Qamishli)

ZALIN, Syria – Bahar organization held a dialogue session attended by representatives of all local institutions of the Beth Nahrin National Council on Wednesday in Zalin (Qamishli).

The dialogue session covered four themes. First, to identify the problems facing the Syriac component in the process of social cohesion and peacebuilding. The second theme concerned the challenges faced by dealing with and integrating the Syriac component in coexistence with the rest of the components. Third, the role of local organizations and authorities in the process of peacebuilding and community cohesion, and fourth and final focus was on the impact of social difficulties and problems on the individual within the Syriac component.

The session was interspersed with interventions and questions from the participants and ended with a number of recommendations.

Affiliates of the Beth Nahrin National Council like the Syriac Union Party, the Syriac Military Council, policing forces (Sutoro), and the Olaf Taw Association for the advancement of the Syriac language hold official status in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.
