Campaign against destruction of cultural heritage launched in ancient city of Nineveh, Iraq

NINEVEH, Iraq — A campaign has been organized to stop the vandalization and destruction of the ancient Nineveh Wall.

The campaign was organized by the Nineveh Antiquities and Heritage Inspectorate and the Directorate of Mosul Municipality, Nergal Municipal Sector.

The Director-General of the Department of Investigation and Excavations Ali Obaid Shalgham stated that, “This campaign comes in a series of previous campaigns of stopping violations that occurred in the ancient city of Nineveh.”

Inspector of Nineveh Antiquities and Heritage Khair al-Din Ahmed Naser commented, “The campaigns continue on their due time, after warnings were given to the trespassers.”

Naser declared that the campaign included a hygiene supplies store, a ceramics store, a generator, and many gardens.
