Lebanese security arrests parent who sold their newborn daughter for $500

BEKAA VALLEY — The Public Relations Division of the General Directorate of the Lebanese Internal Security Forces received information about parents selling their newborn daughter who was born in a hospital in the Bekaa Valley.

After investigations, the concerned authorities arrested a Syrian man and his wife and other people involved of Lebanese and Syrian nationalities, according to local newspapers and websites.

The parents confessed that they sold their daughter to the third involved person, who is wanted by the judiciary under a drugs arrest warrant, in exchange for 7 million Lebanese pounds, as an advance payment. In addition to paying the birth costs and 5 million upon receiving the child, equivalent to approximately $500, according to the Public Relations Division in the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces.
