Activists in As-Suwayda, Syria, form official political movement for first time

AS-SUWAYDA, Syria — Forty-six female and male activists in As-Suwayda, Syria, formed a political movement for the first time. The political and social activists believe that the solution in Syria begins with activating political life and discussing the Syrian situation in a systematic and open manner.

According to local media outlet As-Suwayda 24, the Youth Politics Movement believes that the basis of conflict in Syria is summarized in three main issues, the most important of which is absence of judiciary independence and rule of law in favor of security hegemony. The other two points are the lack of social justice in the Syrian state’s economic policy and the absence of organized politics beyond the control of the regime.

The movement’s goal is reaching a democratic, civil, independent, liberal state with a parliamentary system, wrote As-Suwayda 24.
