Syrian Democratic Forces of North and East Syria announced martyrdom of Assyrian Khabur Guard fighter and denied false Turkish rumors

TEL TAMR, Syria — The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) of North and East Syria announced the martyrdom of member of the Assyrian Khabur Guards fighter Zaia Tel Tamr a result of Turkish artillery bombardment on Easter/Palm Sunday targeting the Suraye village of Tel Shnan in the Tel Tamr countryside. Tel Tamr is the central town of the predominantly Syriac–Assyrian Khabur River Valley.

The SDF also denied the narrative being spread by the Turkish Ministry of Defense about an alleged SDF attack on Turkish-controlled areas which supposedly killed 13 SDF fighters.

“Turkey, which violates all human values, is trying to cover up its crimes by spreading false news,” the SDF General Command stated.

Turkish forces and their Syrian National Army (SNA) proxies have intensified their bombing of the Suraye villages in Khabur around the Easter holiday.

Efforts by Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) political representatives to establish the Khabur as a separate canton for the Suraye people under the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria have so far been unsuccessful.
