Anti-terrorism campaigns launched against ISIS cells in Iraq and Lebanon

AL-MAJDAL, Lebanon / NINEVEH PLAINS, Iraq — Anti-terrorism raids continue across the Middle East in an effort to stifle the re-emergence of the Islamic State (ISIS), which has seen an uptick in capacity and activity in recent months.

According to Al-Nahar newspaper, a Lebanese Army Center in Al-Majdal town, in the border area of ​​Wadi Khaled, came under fire from the Syrian town of Al-Maajir after the Lebanese Army killed a member of ISIS who tried to run over soldiers attempting to arrest him.

The Lebanese Army stated that the man was smuggling weapons and explosive materials across the border for ISIS.

In Iraq, the Security Media Cell said in a press statement that Iraqi security forces arrested a dangerous ISIS operative in Nineveh Plains, indicating that he is a former official of ISIS camps in the region.
