Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Aphrem II attends swearing-in ceremony of Hungarian President Novák in Budapest

BUDAPEST — On 14 May 2022, Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II participated in the swearing-in ceremony of Hungarian President Mrs. Katalin Novák at the Parliament Kossuth Lajos Square in Budapest. The Patriarch was accompanied by the Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director Mor Youssef Bali.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, as well as Hungarian MPs, ministers, and spiritual leaders were in attendance.

After the ceremony, Patriarch Aphrem II met with President Novák and congratulated her on her election to office.

The Patriarch held prayers in the Syriac language and asked God to bless the president and grant her success in leading Hungary towards further prosperity.
