TURKEY: Syriac people in Midyat celebrate Feast of Mor Charbel
MIDYAT, Turkey — On Sunday evening, the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in Midyat, located in the historic Tur Abdin region in southeastern Turkey, celebrated Mor (Saint) Charbel’s Day at the Mor Charbel Church. Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) expatriates from Europe and the US participated in the celebration.
Father Isaac Ergun delivered a speech in which he spoke about the life and virtues of Mor Charbel, as well as his service to God and the Church.
Ergun urged all believers to follow the path of saints and commemorate them via the religious rituals that are inherited from the founders of the Church.
Deacons in Mor Charbel Church chanted hymns and folk songs for the faithful in attendance. More than 300 people attended the celebration.
