Sovereign Front for Lebanon calls for election of new president
SODECO, Lebanon — With the approach of the presidential elections in Lebanon, the Sovereign Front for Lebanon held its weekly meeting at its headquarters in Sodeco to discuss the latest developments in Lebanon. In the statement released after the meeting, the Front declared:
“Day after day, it becomes clear that the current government of Lebanese President Michel Aoun is willing to allow a constitutional vacuum to form and chaos to ensue, leading Lebanon into the unknown. Thus, the Front insists on expediting the election of a new Lebanese President who will be a reformist and work to extricate Lebanon from the dire conditions that it is experiencing.”
In related news, the Syriac Maronite Metropolitans held their monthly meeting at the summer residence of the Patriarchate in Dimane. The meeting was headed by Syriac Maronite Patriarch Mor Bechara Boutros al-Rai and was attended by the heads of the Syriac Maronite monasteries.
They issued a statement calling for the speedy formation of a new government and the initiative to elect a new president for Lebanon.
They also appealed to officials in the public and private sectors to prioritize the interest of Lebanon and its people over any other interest.
The attendees praised the efforts of the security and military forces for their role in maintaining stability in the country during a tumultuous period.
