Syriac Military Council of North and East Syria commemorates 8th anniversary of resistance of Khabur martyrs

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — On the 8th anniversary of the heroic resistance against the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Khabur River Valley in North and East Syria, the Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulhoyo Suryoyo, MFS) released a statement commemorating the sacrifice of the martyrs who gave their lives in defense of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) homeland.

The statement has been refined for clarity and concision:

“We remember and honor our martyrs, whose sacrifices and resistance reflect the will of the Syriac people to live freely and with dignity, to secure their national rights, and to defend the safety and sovereignty of their homeland.”

The statement goes on to highlight the importance of the martyrs’ sacrifices and the courage of the fighters who defended their people and villages. The memory of these events will serve as a source of strength and resilience for generations to come.

The MFS pledged to continue the path of victory laid by the martyrs and promises to defeat ISIS while defending the rights of all peoples in the region. The statement also acknowledges the historical suffering endured by the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and vows to fight against any attempts to violate their land or deny their rights.

“We stand here today, in the presence of our martyrs, pledging to continue their path towards victory. We will not be deterred by hostile parties or external pressures. We will defend our people and ensure the safety of our land, constitutionally and officially.”
