Syriac delegation participates in Newruz celebrations in Hasakah, North and East Syria

HASAKAH, Syria — As an expression of positive intercommunal relations and coexistence between the ethnic components in North and East Syria, a delegation from institutions of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB), including the Syriac Union Party (SUP) in Hasakah, Syria participated in the Newruz celebrations, which are held by the Kurdish people on 21^st March.

The delegation included SUP official in Hasakah Branch Gabriel Shamoun and SUP members Simon Jirjis, Maha Shabo and Sophia Yusef, in addition to representatives of institutions of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) in the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) in Hasakah.

The delegation was received by tribal and public figures from the Kurds, Arabs and other ethnic components in Hasakah.

The Newruz celebrations included reciting poems, delivering speeches and performing Kurdish folkloric dances and songs.

The Syriac delegation offered Newruz congratulations, wishing that peace, freedom and democracy would prevail among all ethnic components of North and East Syria.
