American researcher Alexander Langlois confirms Washington’s intention to prosecute Syrian regime in comments to North Press Agency

WASHINGTON, D.C. — American researcher at the International Republican Institute in Washington, D.C., Alexander Langlois, said that the US administration continues to support efforts to prosecute the Syrian regime for war crimes it committed against the Syrian people.

In a statement to North Press Agency, Langlois said that there is a complex relationship between Washington and international legal bodies such as the International Court of Justice in The Hague, especially the International Criminal Court. Therefore, Washington supports trial procedures for those who take the leading role in these trials, such as Canada and the Netherlands.

He confirmed that there are international efforts to conduct judicial trials against human rights violators in the Syrian government.

This is something that countries such as Germany have taken serious steps in, and he indicated that there is a large international trend to prosecute war criminals in Syria due to the normalization of relations by a number of Arab countries with the Assad regime.

On 22 June, the American Coalition for Syria presented a new project before the US Congress to establish a special international tribunal to prosecute the Syrian regime for the many war crimes and crimes against humanity that it committed.

The Coalition previously worked towards the passage of Caesar’s Law and the Captagon Law.
