Delegation of Bethnahrin National Council meets with Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East Mar Awa III Royel
STOCKHOLM — On Thursday, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East Mar Awa III Royel visited Sweden. The visit is scheduled to last 10 days, during which the patriarch will visit the various churches of Sweden.
The Patriarch was received by Archbishop of Assyrian Church of the East in Scandinavia and Germany Mor Odisho Oraham, Syriac Orthodox Bishop of Antioch in Sweden Dioscorus Benjamin Ataş, Syriac Orthodox Archbishop in Sweden and members of the church local councils.
A delegation from institutions of Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) met with Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East Mar Awa III Royel, at the headquarters of the Assyrian Church of the East in Stockholm.
The delegation included Deputy of the Media Department in the MUB Presidential Committee Yacoub Mirza, Official of Foreign Relations in the European Syriac Union (ESU) in Sweden Metin Rhawi, Representative of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) in Syria Joseph Lahdo, Suroyo TV Administrator Rima Asmar and the photographer Nuri Hinno.
The patriarch asked to be informed about the work of Suroyo TV. Deputy of the Media Department in the MUB Presidential Committee Yacoub Mirza briefed the patriarch about Suroyo TV work.
Mirza shed light on Suroyo TV branches in the Gozarto (Jazeera) Region in Syria, in addition to its branches in Iraq, Lebanon and the Netherlands, as well as representatives of Suroyo TV in countries of presence of Syria (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) people.
Mirza also talked about Suroyo FM and SyriacPress News Agency, as well as the future plans.
After that, Official of Foreign Relations in the European Syriac Union (ESU) in Sweden Metin Rhawi spoke about the political developments in general. He also stressed the demands of Syriac people in the Nineveh Plain, Iraq.
Then, the discussion took place on how to activate the role of political parties and churches of Syriac people, in order to develop their future.
Representative of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) in Syria Joseph Lahdo spoke about people of Beth Zebdai who, during the massacres, asked for help from Syriac people, who enjoyed military power in Iran, proving that we are one people.
The patriarch highlighted the joint work between the churches and political parties of Syriac people, stressing the need to enhance it.
The MUB delegation invited the patriarch to visit Suroyo TV to conduct an interview with him.
