New Syriac Orthodox Church to be consecrated in Istanbul, Turkey
ISTANBUL — On Friday evening, Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II headed from Beirut, Lebanon to Istanbul, Turkey, in preparation for consecrating a new church.
The Patriarch was accompanied by the Patriarchal Advisor Mor Theophilos George Saliba, Archbishop of (Hmoth) Homs, Hemto (Hama), Tartous and Environs Mor Timotheos Matta al-Khoury, Archbishop of the Gozarto (Jazira) and Euphrates Maurice Amsih, and Patriarchal Assistant Mor Joseph Bali.
The consecration of Church of Mor Ephrem the Syriac will take place on Sunday.
