EU Interior Ministers express heightened concerns over terrorism threat amid Israel-Hamas conflict
BRUSSELS — With the conflict between Israel and Hamas continuing, apprehensions within the European Union have intensified, particularly regarding potential terrorist attacks as Christmas approaches.
Addressing EU Interior Ministers in Brussels, Commissioner of Internal Affairs Ylva Johansson conveyed her assessment of the situation, grounded in member states’ evaluations and the prevailing circumstances. Several nations have elevated the risk level for terrorist attacks on their territories, contributing to growing concerns.
Johansson emphasized the heightened prevalence of anti-Semitism and anti-Muslim hatred, coupled with a surge in terrorist content on the internet, as key factors shaping this assessment.
