HAH, Turkey — In the heartwarming spirit of the Christmas season, the Syriac Women’s Association in Turkey organized a series of celebrations in the historic region of Tur Abdin in what is now southeastern Turkey, culminating in a festive Christmas celebration in Hah village.
The highlight of the event was the cheerful presence of Santa Claus, who delighted children by distributing gifts and spreading joy throughout the village. To ensure no child felt left out, gifts were also sent to the children of Kfarze, Beth Qastan, and Darqouba, who could not attend the celebration.
Over the past week, the Syriac Women’s Association extended its celebrations to Midyat, Miden, Bsorino, and Arkah villages. These events, a cherished annual tradition, featured the distribution of gifts, food, and sweets to children, complemented by organized entertainment games.
The overarching goal of these celebrations, organized diligently by the Syriac Women’s Association in Turkey, is to bring happiness to the hearts of children in Syriac villages in Tur Abdin. The events also serve as a reminder to preserve the rich heritage of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in the region, encouraging a sense of cultural continuity among the younger generation.
