Turkey establish yet another unsanctioned military base in Nohadra, Kurdistan Region of Iraq
NOHADRA, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — In a blatant disregard for the Iraqi government and a clear violation of territorial sovereignty, Turkish forces have established yet another military base in Nohadra (Duhok), Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), adding to the growing list of unauthorized Turkish bases within the country.
The new base is approximately 90 kilometers into Iraqi territory. Turkey has also persisted in conducting air strikes across various areas in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) and Nineveh Plains.
The tally of Turkish bases in northern Iraq is now over 40, serving as launching points for attacks and gathering intelligence on individuals for targeted actions.
Despite repeated calls from the Iraqi government for Turkish forces to withdraw from the country, Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Guler declared the continuation of military operations in Iraq. These actions persist despite condemnations and protests from the Iraqi government, prompting the Iraqi Parliamentary Defense Committee to consider further reactions should Turkey ignore these calls. The Committee has also taken steps to form a fact-finding committee to investigate Turkish attacks on the region and its citizens.
