European Syriac Union held a dialogue session in the Netherlands on Lausanne Treaty
HENGELO, Netherlands — After more than a hundred years on from the signing of the Lausanne Treaty, the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people still suffer its negatives effects, including exclusion of their rights.
The European Syriac Union (ESU) held a dialogue session in Hall of Mary Virgin Church in Hengelo, Netherlands, to discuss the most prominent repercussions of the Treaty.
Bringing together members of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community, the ESU organized a comprehensive discussion aimed at dissecting the most salient repercussions of the Treaty and exploring pathways towards redress.
Yilmaz Ergun presented the event on behalf of ESU.
ESU President Fehmi Vergili delivered a speech and highlighted the importance of future steps and actions while our dear friend Sandra Korteweg and Johannes de Jong spoke about their activities and joint work with our organization.
The ESU stated that the session included a documentary about that period and signing of the Treaty, then discussion was opened for the attendees.
