Political parties of Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people condemn violations against Nahla region in Iraq

NAHLA, Iraq — After preventing the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people in Nahla region from transporting agricultural fertilizers, food and daily needs to their villages, despite obtaining all approvals from the official authorities in Aqra district, the Bethnahrin Patriotic Union Party (Huyodo Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA) condemned in a statement the military control action in the Bakerman area of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).

The HBA statement called on Minister of Interior, Governor of Nohadra (Duhok) and the KRI presidency to find a final solution to the repeated encroachment, which exacerbates tension in the region due to groups actions sheltered by the parties of the Kurdish authority.

The HBA statement called for putting an end to such violations that contradicts with coexistence and brotherhood between the KRI ethnic components, which officials in the local government in Nohadra (Duhok) and the three KRI presidencies always talk about.

The statement also pointed out that such action is not the first of its kind, and it openly aims to intimidate the Nahla people to leave the lands.

This policy has been practiced before against areas of presence of the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people in the region for decades.

The statement stressed that the duty of the security forces is defending the people, not intimidating them.

The statement reaffirmed that the military or tribal armed groups actions against the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian- people in the land of their ancestors contradict with the media speeches by Kurdish politicians in Nohadra (Duhok) about coexistence.

The military groups action was met with disapproval from other political parties and blocs who rejected the violations against the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people.
