Syrian Democratic Council calls for unified front on 13th anniversary of Syrian Revolution
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — On the 13th anniversary of the beginning of the Syrian Revolution, the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) issued a statement urging collaboration with various Syrian democratic forces to form a unified front to steer the Syrian Revolution.
In its statement, the SDC reiterated its commitment to achieving democratic transformation, emphasizing the need for a unified front to guide the Syrian Revolution and rectify its trajectory for the benefit of the Syrian people.
Highlighting the threats facing the values of coexistence and national unity, the SDC pointed to the direct intervention of regional powers and their proxies, which hinder Syria’s path towards political stability and democratic transition.
The statement underscored the lasting impact of the atrocities committed by the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad and the Turkish government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, stressing the importance of responsible action from free Syrians, courageous national initiatives, and support from the international community to restore Syria’s national sovereignty.
Acknowledging the challenges and setbacks faced by the Syria Revolution, particularly due to leadership failures in some areas, the SDC emphasized the ongoing peaceful resistance in regions like As-Suwayda.
It also highlighted the development of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) as a beacon of hope for Syrians.
Renewing its commitment to the Syrian people’s cause, the SDC condemned the Assad regime’s crimes against its citizens over the years, reaffirming its dedication to addressing their demands and aspirations.
