IRAQ: Syriac Catholic Church in Baghdede marks Confirmation of 238 children in 2024

BAGHDEDE, Iraq — In the Nineveh Plains town of Baghdede (Qaraqosh / Hamdaniyah), Iraq, the Syriac Catholic St. Mary al-Tahira Church hosted the Confirmation of 238 children, marking the group to be Confirmed in 2024.

The Mass was led by Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Mosul and its Environs, Mar Younan Hinno, who was assisted by Fathers George Jahhola, Samer Halata, Ignatius Oufi, and Roni Momika.

Following the reading of the Holy Gospel, Archbishop Hinno delivered a sermon to the attendees, discussing the significance of Confirmation preparation with the children.

He expressed gratitude to the priests, nuns, and Christian education staff for their diligent preparation of the children.

The Confirmation ceremony was attended by former Archbishop Mar Yohanna Butros Moshe, along with priests, monks, nuns, families of the children, and a large congregation of believers.
