Armenian Genocide commemorated in the U.S. Congress
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A meeting was held at the U.S. Congress on the 109th anniversary of the Ottoman Empire Genocide against the Armenian people.
The event was attended by Congress members, and speeches were delivered about the most barbaric crime of the 20th century.
Congressman Adam Schiff stated that the U.S. recognition of the Armenian Geocide be followed by real consequence because the time for strong statements by the U.S. Administration alone has long passed.
“While we recall the Genocide and demand that they not be repeated, we note that the Armenians of the Nagorno-Karabakh are facing the same threats,” he added.
Schiff touched upon the crisis of the Nagorno-Karabakh, and called on the U.S. Administration motion.
Congressman Seth Moulton declared that the Armenian people will rebuild as they did in the aftermath of the Genocide, adding that he is proud of U.S. recognition of the Genocide.
Senator Bob Menendez criticized the U.S. Administration for not taking a stance on Azerbaijan, amid the ethnic cleansing against the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Congressman Frank Pallone, in turn, called on the U.S. Administration to send military aid to Armenia to defend itself.
