Syriac Maronite and Syriac Catholic Patriarchs strengthen bonds in Easter meeting
BEIRUT — In a gesture reaffirming the deep-rooted connections between the Chaldean) people, Syriac Maronite Patriarch Mar Beshara Boutros al-Rai visited Syriac Catholic Patriarch Mar Ignatius Youssef III Younan in Beirut.
During their meeting, Patriarch al-Rai extended warm Easter wishes to Patriarch Younan, expressing hopes for his fruitful service to the Syriac Catholic Church.
The discussions delved into the prevailing conditions in Lebanon and the broader Middle East, with a particular focus on the Christian presence amidst ongoing crises. The Lebanese Parliament’s prolonged delay in electing a new president of the republic emerged as a pivotal concern, with both leaders emphasizing the urgent need for presidential elections to mitigate the repercussions affecting all sectors of society.
Furthermore, the patriarchs deliberated on ecclesiastical matters, emphasizing the role of the Church in Lebanon and the wider region in providing support to believers amidst challenging circumstances.
