SYRIA: Gozarto Executive Council Co-Chair Vivian Bahho Oussi highlights upcoming municipal elections and harvest preparations

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — In a statement to SyriacPress, Co-Chair of the Executive Council of Gozarto (Jazira) Canton Vivian Bahh Oussi discussed her participation in a pivotal meeting of the municipalities of Zalin (Qamishli) District. Organized by the Local Administration Authority of Gozarto, the meeting included joint heads of municipalities, directorates, companies, and fire brigades.

Bahho praised the dedication of municipal workers, acknowledging their efforts in maintaining the independence of the municipalities. She emphasized that this meeting marks the end of a current phase and the beginning of a new democratic era, particularly following the ratification of the new Social Contract by the Democratic Peoples’ Council.

“The first step in implementing changes according to the new Social Contract, which is vital during this challenging period, is holding municipal elections,” Bahho stated. She highlighted that the process of handing over positions in North and East Syria is conducted smoothly, reflecting their commitment to the principles of democracy.

During the meeting, Bahho and other officials directed citizens and farmers to cooperate fully with emergency committees as part of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria’s (DAARNES) preparations for the upcoming harvest season.
