Syrian regime participates in 33rd Arab League Summit in Manama

MANAMA — In the Bahraini capital of Manama, the 33rd Arab League Summit saw the League’s Member States, including the Syrian regime, tackle key issues including the war in Gaza, the situations in Syria and Sudan, and broader Arab national security concerns.

The summit’s final statement strongly condemned Israeli attacks in Rafah, warning of a looming humanitarian catastrophe. It also rejected the forced displacement of Palestinians from their lands.

On Syria, the statement called for a resolution to the crisis in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2254, emphasizing non-interference in Syria’s internal affairs and rejecting any demographic changes. It also advocated for the voluntary return of Syrian refugees.

The summit urged Lebanese authorities to elect a President of the Republic and to strengthen constitutional institutions.

Regarding Yemen, the statement expressed support for the Yemeni government’s efforts to achieve national reconciliation among its people.

On Sudan, the statement called for an immediate ceasefire to preserve national institutions and prevent external interference that could prolong the crisis and threaten regional peace and security.
