Delegation from Assyrian Church of the East visits Russia
SARANSK, Russia — A delegation from the Assyrian Church of the East visited Russia to participate in the fifth meeting of the Commission for Dialogue between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Assyrian Church of the East.
The three-week visit included tours of monasteries, churches, and historical and cultural sites in Mordovia, Nizhny Novgorod, and Moscow.
The delegation, led by Archbishop of Baghdad Mar Elia Isaac and accompanied by several priests, participated in the event held in Saransk.
During the visit, the delegation met with leaders and officials from various religions. Discussions covered theological research and studies, the history and current situation of the Assyrian people in different regions of Russia, and the importance of ongoing dialogue and cooperation between the two churches.
The delegation also met with Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church and delivered a message from Catholicos-Patriarch Mar Awa III Royel of the Assyrian Church of the East.
