US urges Arab League to designate Hezbollah as a terrorist organization
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following the decision by the Arab League not to designate the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia in Lebanon as a terrorist organization, the United States has called on the League to reconsider and classify Hezbollah accordingly.
Vedant Patel, spokesman for the US State Department, emphasized that the United States will continue to urge governments worldwide to ban Hezbollah. He stated that Arab countries should classify Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.
Patel noted that there is no justification for countries not to take this step, highlighting that Hezbollah is a dangerous terrorist organization and a destabilizing force in the Middle East. He added that since 2019, 16 governments globally have responded to the call to ban Hezbollah.
