Heritage food festival celebrates Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) culture in Locarno, Switzerland

LOCARNO, Switzerland — The institutions of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) is hosting the Heritage Food Festival of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in Locarno, Switzerland, as a part of the Locarno Film Festival.

The festival will run until 12 August. Members of MUB institutions prepare traditional foods to sell, showcasing the heritage of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people to others.

During the festival, MUB members highlight the situation of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in their homeland of Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia) and in the diaspora.

Profits from food sales are distributed to Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Turkey.

The festival is held in Locarno’s Cinema Films Square, featuring competitions and the distribution of valuable prizes.

The Locarno Film Festival, which started in 1946, has evolved into a major gathering of celebrities.
